My name is Maksym Shpolianskyi.
From an early age, I wanted to be strong so that I could protect others. My grandfather Anatoly, a professional military man, had a huge influence on me in this regard. Since childhood, he was involved in many sports, including boxing, wrestling, gymnastics, swimming, and more. I followed his example, trained in various combat sports, and participated in competitions.
Over time, I came to understand the importance of deep knowledge. I realized that one can only become a true warrior by combining constant learning with constant training.
“Learning is to a man as the leaves and branches are to a tree, and it can be said that he should not be without it. However, learning is not merely reading books, but rather what we learn for later use in our lives.” — Takeda Shingen
In the study of the sciences, a warrior must give special attention to religion, psychology, history, strategy, tactics, ethics, first aid, oratory, and law. But one cannot stop there — a warrior must continue to educate himself across other fields of knowledge as well. In this sense, my role models are the great warrior-scholars: Sun Tzu, Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Miyamoto Musashi, Anatoly Taras, William Fairbairn, Rex Applegate, and.
The extensive knowledge gained through continuous study enhances your training — and training, in turn, deepens your understanding.
Following these principles, I have been studying and training for many years.
This is what I believe, and this is what I teach.
In close combat, I focus solely on what is useful and applicable in real combat — in any situation, under any conditions, on my side and on the enemy’s side.
I don’t want to compete with my opponent. I don’t want to beat him.
My goal is to neutralize the opponent and go home to my family.
